History of the Ibizan capital
Located in the heart of Vara de Rey, the epicenter of the city and the emblematic promenade of the island, is one of the oldest restaurants in Ibiza: Ca n’Alfredo.
Opened in 1934 as “Vernes y Gertrudis Restaurant”, it took 2 years to pass into the hands of the Hanauer family (of Jewish origin and resident in Ibiza).
With the purchase of the restaurant in 1936 they renamed it “Alfredo Restaurant” in honour of the older brother of the new owners.
In 1941, it returned to its Ibizan roots and passed into the hands of the Riera family, and with the efforts of several generations it became this gastronomic paradise in the centre of the capital.

There are many restaurants in which the culinary origins still exist, but, unfortunately, it is increasingly difficult to find traditional dishes outside Ibizan homes.
Why do we explain this to you? Because Ca n’Alfredo is one of the few places to eat in Ibiza where you have the opportunity to discover them.
The Cuinat, the Borrida de ratjada, the Sofrito Payés, the tortilla payesa, the bullit de peix with arroz a banda... And obviously, a great variety of paellas.
But, if you don't feel like such an abundant meal, you can explore the rest of their meat and fish menu.
