Long traditions and authentic flavours in Ca n'Alfredo

Happy New Year from Eating in Ibiza!

To start 2024 well, we bring you a recommendation that we are sure will resonate with you...

And if he doesn't, from now on he will.

History of the Ibizan capital

Located in the heart of Vara de Rey, the epicenter of the city and the emblematic promenade of the island, is one of the oldest restaurants in Ibiza: Ca n’Alfredo.

Opened in 1934 as “Vernes y Gertrudis Restaurant”, it took 2 years to pass into the hands of the Hanauer family (of Jewish origin and resident in Ibiza).

With the purchase of the restaurant in 1936 they renamed it “Alfredo Restaurant” in honour of the older brother of the new owners.

In 1941, it returned to its Ibizan roots and passed into the hands of the Riera family, and with the efforts of several generations it became this gastronomic paradise in the centre of the capital.

Origins. Traditions. Flavours. Ibiza.

There are many restaurants in which the culinary origins still exist, but, unfortunately, it is increasingly difficult to find traditional dishes outside Ibizan homes.

Why do we explain this to you? Because Ca n’Alfredo is one of the few places to eat in Ibiza where you have the opportunity to discover them.

The Cuinat, the Borrida de ratjada, the Sofrito Payés, the tortilla payesa, the bullit de peix with arroz a banda... And obviously, a great variety of paellas.

But, if you don't feel like such an abundant meal, you can explore the rest of their meat and fish menu.

You can accompany your choice with a good wine from our land from wineries such as Can Rich, Can Maymo, Ebusus...

Finally, don't miss their spectacular dessert menu that not only includes Ibizan delicacies, but also in-house delicatessen.

They will not disappoint you!

Unique atmosphere in Vara de Rey

Its central location is the icing on the cake of an already renowned establishment, and every resident and visitor worth their salt knows that dining at Vara de Rey provides not only good flavours, but a relaxed and classy atmosphere.

Having become a completely pedestrian promenade, you have the perfect evening guaranteed, with the benefit that if you go with family or friends, the little ones can go and play while you enjoy the after-dinner meal.

To finish, you can take a pleasant walk around the port to eat your food if the weather is good.

We hope you enjoy the experience (in every way).
