The CETT School was chosen as the venue for the “I Ibiza al Punto Masterclass” due to its professional prestige and the quality of its teaching in the catering, tourism, and gastronomy industries. For this event, the team from Eating in Ibiza team enjoyed a tour of the facilities before a working agreement was signed by the Managing Director and CEO of Grupo CETT, Maria Abellanet i Maya, and the president of Fomento del Turismo de Ibiza, Alejandro Sancho.

The event began with a presentation about the promoters of this event, Fomento del Turismo de Ibiza and Eating in Ibiza, announcing the working agreement signed that very morning by the CETT student placement programme and the companies working in partnership with Fomento del Turismo de Ibiza.

After the presentation, the stoves were fired up and cooking got underway, led by José Miguel Bonet, a chef from Ibiza who is also the executive chef of Es Ventall, assisted by former student of CETT and current head pastry chef at Es Ventall, Matías Trellis, making four dishes based around typical produce from Ibiza: espardenya sea cucumber, the cigala or Norway lobster, red shrimp, olive oil and carob.

The next special guest instructor for the “I Ibiza al Punto Masterclass” was Óscar Molina, originally from Catalonia but living in Ibiza since 2008, executive chef at the Ibiza Gran Hotel, Casino de Ibiza, and at his most personal proposal, La Gaia by Óscar Molina. In his section of the Masterclass, he infused his history and career into four dishes prepared using culinary techniques from Peru, with a few nods to Asian cuisine, creating a concept adapted to the Mediterranean. Molina was assisted by executive chef from La Gaia, Jonathan Yelamos.

The event, which was broadcast live through the CETT streaming channel, notching up more than 1100 views, was attended by around 50 students in person, including participants from Ibiza. The “I Ibiza al Punto Masterclass” was promoted by Fomento del Turismo de Ibiza and subsidised by El Consell de Ibiza and Ibiza Travel.
